The hard-earned joys are the sweetest.One such joy I experienced last week was in the Inter-School Declamation Contest.It all started at the beginning of last month.My English teacher approached me in the middle of my Chemistry class.She said,‘Our school has received an invitation to participate in the Inter-School Declamation Contest in our city,and the Principal has asked me to prepare you for the same.I want you to win the competition',she continued,‘Here is the list of topics,let me know which topic you want to prepare.I will give you the script tomorrow.'There were many interesting topics.However,I selected the topic'It is better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all.'I was given three free periods to prepare for the speech until the contest.
The English teacher would hear me speaking 5 times every day,correct my pronunciation,instruct me on modulation as the speech demanded.Thus,word by word,sentence by sentence I perfected my speech.The morning of the competition arrived.I didn’t feel nervous a bit.When my turn came,I just gave a flawless rendition.I received a standing ovation from the audience.At the end,the judges declared the result.I jumped out of my chair three feet high,when my name was announced as the first runner up.Though I was expecting the first prize,the second prize still gave me a lot of contentment.

When I was a middle school student,our school had numerous of rewards for us to encourage us.It could be a medal for being the first in a competition,the one who loves helping others,the one who take the responsibility for the cleanness of the campus,the one who is good at sports,etc.
Should parents push their children to get prizes?
I think it’s a good thing to put a little pressure on children,but I don’t think prizes are the only thing that measures success.Parents shouldn’t put so much emphasizes on the final prizes,while they should care more about the procedure.Only in this way,can their children be cultivated in a positive atmosphere.
What kinds of rewards can companies offer to their outstanding employees?
From my perspective,holidays,bonuses,promotions,free gym membership cards,etc.can all be the rewards.Actually,in today’s companies,employees care more about humanity care than others,so if a company can let its employees feel comfortable and have a sense of belonging,they can have huge success in the future.
